Wahoo! Dialog on Day Two of Blogfest!

First: My first official post as a Dojo Leader goes up today!  So click HERE to view it :)  Thanks guys!!!

So if I didn't comment on your day one post, that means I didn't read it!  And you must yell at me and get me over to your post!  I did two rounds (one Monday morning and the other Tuesday morning), but there are a lot of links here (and they keep going up!  Eep!), so I may have missed someone.  I do not want to miss you!  So please please tell me if I missed your post!

Okay...

Dialog is my favorite!!!  Squee!!!

So I'm cheating.  It's a little over the word count, but hey!  I can't win anyway!  And if I did, I doubt critiquing my own query would do much good, lol.

Here we go!

“You ready for this, Zo?”

“Whatever, I’m gonna wipe the floor with you and you know it!”

“You have to answer every question right on this card or you’re goin’ back to the dungeons!”

“Hey! When was the last time I lost this game?”

“Last time we played.  I believe I whooped your butt.”

“Just ‘cause you rolled sixes the whole time.”

“You keep tellin’ yourself that.”

“Stop stalling and read the dang questions.  And then get ready for the victory dance!”

“In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, who gave Harry the idea to use-”

“Dobby. Unless you’re counting the movie.  Then it was Neville. Next question.”

“You sure Gillyweed was what I was gonna say?”

“Yes. Next question.”

“Cheater.”

“Whatever! You’re jealous!”

“Fine, smart-ass. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, what one word did Harry use to describe the kiss with-”

“Wet. Next question. And when I get it right, you have to keep your end of the deal.”

“It’s a tough one. You willing to keep up the bet? ‘Cause when you get it wrong, then you’ll be the one-”

“You don’t scare me.”

“Alright… what actor portrayed the young Snape in Harry Potter and the-”

“Benedict Clarke.”

“Oh, sorry… you’re wrong.”

“What? No I’m not.”

“Yup, you are.”

“Let me see that card.”

“Whoops!  Back in the deck.”

“Zak! I so had that right and you know it! Stop shaking your head!”

“Ouch get off me!”

“We had a deal.  Take ‘em off!”

“Okay, okay.  But I can’t do that when you’re on top of me.”

“Alright, but no running away! And I'm turning around. Be quick about it.”

“Okay, now what do you want me to do with them?”

“Put them on your head.”

“Sick, Zo.”

“Come on. Deal’s a deal. I would’ve done the same thing.”

“Yeah, but a thong is a lot smaller than these.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“Okay, now what?”

“Now we go for a nice long walk around the block.”

“I’m gonna have some serious chaffing.”

“That’s what you get for doubting my Harry Potter knowledge.”

Okay everyone!  Have fun hopping around :)  I look forward to reading all of your dialogs :)

  9. Marvellous. And that's from someone allergic to HP. It's the wee things that tell us so much :o) xxx

  13. Should I be scared that these two know so much about Harry Potter? Or that I knew all the answers, too? Good job!

  14. That was incredible -- I'm jealous of your ability to convey personality through dialogue like that. I don't have that much personality WHEN I TALK IN REAL LIFE. Now all my characters feel to me like they're just cardboard cutouts, except for the ones that are cardboard cutouts, which, weirdly, feel to me like they are pastry chefs in an underrated French restaurant located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

But probably everyone has days like that.

It was underwear he put on his head, right? But the big mystery is... WHOSE? (Or is it WHOMS?)

  15. Oh. I put my pathetic attempt at dialogue up here:

    ilima: <3 you!

Emily: I actually took these questions off of the HP trivia game I have, lol. :)

Joshua: The best kind of HP trivia... depending on who you play with.

Elizabeth: Informative? Oh with all the trivia? Gotcha! :)

Morgan: Everyone's entries are awesome! I'm having a blast reading them all :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. How can you go wrong with HP fan dialogue? You just can't!! Great job Cassie!

    Hilarious.

    ReplyDelete

Kelley: Aw, epilogue, huh? Sounds like a plan, lol.

Angie: Thanks! Vote number two for epilogue. I will have to throw in some action and internalization though, just sayin'. ;)

    Johanna: You can't go wrong!

Sara: Yes, you are exactly right. :)

Clare: Another Potter Dork! We must unite and conquer the world! :)

Hope: Um... yes, you email that story to me right now :)

    Carol: Thanks!

Madeleine: Details in the dialog... totally glad I got that across :)

Tyrean: Always. She rocks at that game!

    Jackie: Thank you!

  31. loved it. You totally get a sense of their connection. And I loved the boxers on the head, although-maybe he's a briefs kinda guy. Is it bad that this brings back memories for me? haha I have totally had a couple of moments where I played for embarassing things-clothes inside out and stuff like that. I'm feeling very connected to Zoe.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You are sooo funny! I loved that! Bestseller material I'm tellin' ya!

    ReplyDelete
  33. LOL. I loved the HP trivia!! Great job! :D

    ReplyDelete
  38. That's so funny in an odd sort of way. Great use of dialogue.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Amber: Awesome! And I was picturing boxers when I wrote this, but now I'm thinking briefs, lol. But they would definitely be Star Wars or Spiderman underwear :)

    JA: Oh you totally rock!

    Ashley: Thank you :)

Gwen: Strip monopoly? How many items of clothing were you wearing??? Must've been a lot to last through that game :)

    Jess: Underwear :P

Sari: Lol. Awesome! People look at me funny all the time when I'm reading some blog posts. :)

Leigh: Um... this is just the story of my life, lol. I'm kidding btw!

That Zo ... way too hyper for me.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ooh this was so much fun I was visualising the whole thing in my head, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Entertaining the whole way through. Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You're right...dialogue is a strength for you! Very nicely done. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yay! I'm so glad i'm not the only rule bender. And also, YAY for HP trivia! Loved this, i definitely got a taste for their voices.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dianne: Thanks :)

Carrie: HP trivia is ALWAYS fun :)

Sharon: Lol. Oh my gosh, giggling my butt off.

    Emily: Harry Potter Rocks :)

Aldra: That's me with Star Trek trivia. I only know some of the answers and have to go on dumb luck the rest of the time.

    Hywela: Thank you!

    Justin: Thanks! :)

DL: Dialog is my favorite part of writing! I'm not sure it's a strength, but I think it's cuz I talk so much and I talk to myself all the time, it just comes out when I write :)

Sarah: Haha! I figure I'll bend the rules cuz I can't win anyway :) But I was only just over the word limit :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lolol! Cassie, this is amazing. I love how many little unexpected twists there are in here. So amazing.

Dialogue is one of my favorites, too :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I know there's a ton of these...just dropping you a line to say, "Hey, you and Angie haven't been to my 'dialogue' post yet." So hop on over :) please :D

  50. That was a lot of fun Cassie :) These two know each other so well, and they seem great friends. Love develops from such closeness, and it generally sticks forever.

    Great character voices.

I took a blogger sick day yesterday, so I'm seriously behind in reading excerpts. I plan to catch up over the weekend though.
