Doing my fears this month, in case you missed day one.
Day 21: Unitards
Rate on the scary scale from 1-10: 4
WARNING (yes, another disclaimer): This is one of those posts that may make you uncomfortable if you don't like reading about boobs. (Or laugh if you are like Hope ;) )
You know those cute little girls that take ballet or dance class and have their pictures and awards hung up? Ya, I was not one of those girls. I could not face the unitard.
Let's just say I've been... blessed in a certain area of my body. Too blessed. Even at a young age. And there's no way someone is squeezing these juggers into a unitard, because the entire time they will be protesting to get out.
Every movement I make, I swear, I'd be terrified that POP! There's a boob!
So when a few of my friends wanted to sign up for dance, I couldn't stop the images of strutting my stuff out on the field when suddenly my boobs fly out in front of the entire school. So dance was not an option of mine.
I mean, gym was bad enough when we had to do jumping jacks.
And guess who's somewhere else today?? Angie over at Live to Write, Edit When Necessary (PS, I love her blog title) interviewed yours truly. Pay me a visit? Thanks friends!

Oh the joys of having huge knockers lol!
Maybe I should've watched the dancers practice when I was a teen...
Wait, did I say that out loud?
So with you on this one.
So no big popping out story to go with this? I'm disappointed. :)
I was NOT blessed in this area, but my sister was and while I was running around in a leotard for gymnastics in high school, let's just say she wouldn't have been caught dead in one. Excellent post!
I hear ya, same blessing was bestowed onto me and oh how I loathed it. Since then, I've learned to tolerate it, but oh how I've longed to wear those strappy dresses and strapless tanks and I will never know the joy of it. :( lol Funny, how everyone on the flipside longs for them isn't it??
I find it interesting that women (me included) are never satisfied with their bodies. But now living here in Mexico, I believe it's cultural. The women down here LOve their bodies and flaunt them no matter what shape they have. I admire that.
Knuckle bump Cassie...I've got too many boobs too. Never go strapless, never, ever would I wear a unitard!
Did you ever see that SNL skit with Beyonce that had Justin Timberlake as one of the background dancers? This Video? I look more like Bobby Moynihan (whom I've met, by the way, before he got the SNL gig; really funny guy).
So that's why they called it Flashdance??
Let's just say "thank goodness my hubby's a boob man". I hate bikini's! It looks good and then BAM! side boob. 10 lbs of sugar in a 5 lb bag. So with you on this one. And hello camel-toe. Whoever came up with the unitard was warped!
Thumbs up from your interview, just read it! *Jumping jacks in gym were bad enough* lol. Yesterday, hubby was asking me if it hurt to do jumping jacks or run or something and I was like, thank you sports bras! Unitards, you suck. Lol.
Bahaha! This comment reminded me of Niki Manaj's performance on American Idol a couple of weeks ago. If you didn't see it you should seriously google it because that girls boobs were 1 cm from busting out. She might have preferred it that way, though, whereas you could do without the nipples making an appearance:)
Oh yeah I agree, definately rating up there with fashion disaster
Yet again, you make my day. Thank you!
I was laughing at the word unitard, then you had to go and throw in the word boob! Almost spit my coffee out :) Thanks for the morning funny!!!!
Thankfully, I was a nice slim b-cup during my dancing years...now, after having kids, I'm a double-D and just walking causes lots of bounciness. Oh, joy.
Oh Cassie, I can totally relate. I went ahead and danced anyway (I was on cheer) and seriously I wore like three bras at a time, especially during performances.
Luckily I never had any "pop-outs" thank goodness, but there were some close calls.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha :D I did dance as child and teenager. Maybe it worked for me becasue I'm so small ;)
*sigh* I wish I suffered the same curse.
I'm right there with you. Big boobs are a PITA. One size fits all really only works if you're a c cup or less.
bahaha! You have no idea how many girls would be jealous of you! I would be one of them. High school is a terrible time not to have boobs... unless you want to be in a unitard! lol. Luckily, I never got in one anyway. Then everyone would notice my awesome boyish figure!
FYI - your interview with Angie is freaking hilarious! You've done it again!!!
don't you girls have athletic bras for such things? :)
Gotta say, the unitards are not the thing preventing me from dancing. That would be the, er, the coordination thing. I have perfectly average, lovely boobs, and after reading all the other comments here, I'm awfully thankful for them. :-)
I was a dancer when from the time I was in elementary school until the college, but that was before I got SO busty. Now I have a hard time squeezing into a swim suit. TMI?
I was a dancer for years (shh, don't tell anyone, it'll ruin my tom-boy image), and I gotta say the thing I hated most were those stupid unitards. Ugh.
I had (have) a lower problem. Too many hips.
We really need a bullet point list of these fears. LOL. I don't know what it feels like to be that blessed unless you count prego boobs and the few months after. Which they were hard to contain.
I know how you feel, even a tiny lil v neck is too much, it doesn't help that I'm really slim. Good for getting free drinks in my younger days though hehe! :)
I hold my girls in place when I do jumping jacks. None of that arm flailing crap for me! ;)
even as a little girl!?!?! poor thing!
No one likes a bragger, missy! LOL just kidding. I'm jealous!
I was in ballet at a young age. I didn't like to wear those stupid things and don't get me started on the tights that go on underneath. WTH?
Hahaha, that's funny because I seem to have that problem still (and I'm way past school age)
Kyra: It did get me a discount on tires once!
Suzi: I've only popped out once, and it wasn't a unitard. :)
PK: I'm alright with the extra boobage, just as long as it doesn't fall past my knees.
Darci: I used to wear a bra with a sports bra over it. I can't remember the logic I had behind this.
Carrie: I would knock myself out if I did jumping jacks nowadays.
Jackie: LOL! I wonder if it was to prevent wedgies.
Marta: Yup, it's bad when you can do a raspberry on your own boob.
I had boobs at an early age too. I did a little ballet too. My issue was that I had to wear my school shoes because my parents couldn't afford ballet shoes. Then I had to stop all together because they couldn't afford both ballet and extra lessons. Sigh. I only did ballet for a little while but I loved it. My pudgy butt moved on that stage.
