Doing my fears this month, in case you missed day one.
Day 9: Ice
Rate on the scary scale from 1-10: 5
Between today's post and yesterday's, you guys will all start thinking I'm just one big klutz who falls a lot.
Well, you'd be right. It's genetic. (Thanks, Mom.)
I hope you all know I'm not talking about a piece of ice someone shoves down your shirt or your pants, I'm talking icicles and (big gulp) black ice.
Black ice is not a friend to those of us who manage to fall off flip flops.
What I hate about black ice is it's so sneaky. Like, you don't know if you're coming up on black ice or water. So, me being someone who doesn't like to fall on my butt, I treat every wet spot and puddle as if it's black ice.
The hubs will speed walk through a parking lot without even looking (or slipping). Me, I can be as careful as can be and I manage to find the one patch of ice and slip on it.
Not only do I slip, I yelp, drawing all attention to my clumsiness.
And icicles... so beautiful. I love them from a distance. Because have you ever heard the horror stories of those things impaling oblivious victims? *shudders*
Oh, and just a reminder of the group blog I blog at Falling For Fiction. I'll be posting over there today as well if you have time to stop by, I'd appreciate it!

Cassie, we need to have words, lady! I wasn't scared of many things until I started reading your A-Z posts! Now I'm scared of earwigs and icicles LOL! :p
Mwah, love you really! :D
I'm definitely not a fan of black ice but I don't mind icicles that much. Every winter, we get giant ones coming off the roof outside my front door and I leave them because I want to see if they'll get long enough to touch the ground. My significant other always breaks them before they get there though.
Sorry.
Hawaii is full :)~
Icicles are the perfect murder weapon. Sharp enough to kill, then the evidence melts away. ;-)
I HATE black ice. I don't mind it so much when I'm walking (though I'm not a fan of falling on my butt either), but it scares the crap out of me when I'm driving.
Never, never look up at an icicle. :)
And yes, that sneaky black ice. Worst of all is freezing fog. It's looks so pretty, until you land on your butt.
I'm with Kyra on this! I'm starting to get paranoid of my environment around me since reading your A-to-Z blog posts! :)
black ice SUCKS... so dangerous! but icicles? so pretty and totally useful if you need to stab someone in the eye!!!
Black ice and driving = yikes for me.
Oh, and about ice... my brothers would fill pitchers of ice water and dump it on me like I was the coach of a winning team. It would scare me and freeze me every time!
So are you one of those drivers who sees a single snowflake falling out of the sky and then spin into the ditch?
Hehehe! I'm not so terrified of ice, though I do tend to slip once in a while. :P
Ice ... yuck! When you go to Hawaii; can you take me with you?! Much appreciated.
Not a fan of black ice either....but I heart ice...especially ice skating :-) I'm a terrible klutz too so I enjoy it as much as I can ...while falling on my butt LOL.
I also talked about ICE today briefly on my blog...but a different type - a book title :-P
Black ice is the worst. And I always thought an icicle would make the perfect weapon, not that I plan on killing anyone or anything!
The times I don't like black ice is when you're driving down the interstate and all of a sudden you feel that you are not controlling the car--it's gliding. That's only happened once. Luckily for us, we slid straight.
I've got a great idea for you. I have these things for my shoes that I used a few times after I got them then left them hanging in the garage. They're rubber and they stretch over your shoes (high heels wouldn't work)and they have little spikes in them. They're perfect for ice walking. Of course you have to remove them once you get to where you'r going. But good for dog walking in the winter.
We don't get much ice down my way, but last winter we did. I live in a very hilly area - no flat areas at all! The whole town was inching along the middle of the roads, because the pavements were too much of a risk. Elsewhere in England - the flat bits, mostly - people were able to get around not too badly, but life stopped here, or we'd have all been on our backsides in the street!
A few years ago I slipped on black ice in our front driveway and knocked my head on the concrete. Luckily, someone was driving by and saw me, otherwise I would've been stuck there a while. Yes, I'm afraid of ice now too.
These are great posts Cassie :) They make me giggle! I'm not afraid of falling on ice, but when my car flashes ice on the gauge thingy, I'm white knuckled until I get home.
Icicles are quite freaky, I agree, but way pretty :)
Icicles are beautiful but the thought of being impaled by one is shudder worthy. Then the weapon would melt and they wouldn't know how you died. Hmm....
Hawaii is full???? *laughing at Mark*
Off to FFF!!!!
:D
What about crunching ice cubes?
So glad it doesn't snow in Jamaica. Haven't been blogging for a few days. I was super sick yesterday. I got struck by a fever out of nowhere and had to curl up in my bed and take medicine. Feeling half-way better today thought.
Iciles are beautiful. Sorry about your clumsiness with ice patches. Cute post.
I shouldn't laugh at this one. I am prone to slip and fall too. Black ice mostly scares me when driving because I always have my kids. If I fall and hurt myself, that's one thing, but I don't want the busters hurt! And don't get me started on icicles. eek!
Yeah. Though Hawaii has it's own challenges, too. How do you feel about 6" centipedes?
See why I live in Florida? ;)
Ice doesn't scare me - bring it on!
And I thought you wanted to move to Hawaii so you and Mark could cause twice the trouble.
I'm klutzy, too. Black ice is even scarier when you're driving. At least for me.
I'm starting to thing we're related. Last winter I was walking up my father-in-laws walk way and slipped. Unfortunately, I had my hands full so my face bounced off the sidewalk. Needless to say I ended up in the ER with my lip caught in my teeth. Not fun. Ever since then, scared to death of slipping on the ice.
heeheehee! totally logical! my mom freaks out so much about black ice, that sometimes in the winter she has to pull the car over and actually feel the road with her hand to make sure she's good to go.
Well, as dangerous as they may be, those icicles sure are veautiful. Either that or they look like frost monster teeth. One of the other.
P.S. Forgot to follow you yesterday. Woops.
Hahahaha! Oh, sneaky little black ice... I do NOT miss you! So there ...[sticks tongue at Idaho all the way from Los Angeles]...
And no worries, deary, you're not the only klutz that manages to find the ONLY patch of black ice in the parking lot! I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!

Kyra: Oh we aren't even halfway through girl! :)
Jack: Lol! :)
Jackie: Oh, I'd kill 'em!
Rachel: I'm such a stinky ice skater. I don't have the ankles for it, lol.
Suzi: My dad has offered his golf shoes for me during the icy weather. He thinks he's so funny :)
Ilima: Yikes! I'm terrified of banging my head like that. Glad your okay!
Sheena: I'm totally coming to Jamaica to visit you in the winter. :)
Carol: WAY scarier when driving.
Julie: ya, maybe I should think of going to LA too :)

This reminds of the time I was walking on an icy side walk with my friend and I said, "I swear I'm going to fall on my a--". Yeah, fell right as I was saying ass.
I'm terrified of ice on the road. On the ground isn't my friend so much, either, but I haven't had to deal with much of either since college. Gotta love this warm Tucson weather.
