Let me take you back eight years to my senior year in high school. Back to the time when I'd wear makeup every day (or at least some makeup), wore pants (and skirts on normal days... not just Sundays), and did not leave the house without my hair styled. (Ah...the days when I was a kid, and not mothering three)
I dyed my hair occasionally. Maybe once a year (or twice...once to a color, then once again back to my natural color.) I never did anything crazy. It was always lighter brown, highlights, or reddish. But one day I thought, you know what would look great on me? Blonde hair.
I wanted to look like this:
But being young and poor (instead of old and poor like I am now ;)) I bought the 7 buck box of Born Blonde and got to work.
Well, silly me, I thought dying my whole head would be overkill. I just wanted to lighten it up at first...ease into the blonde. So, I took half my hair and slathered the stuff on, leaving the other half only sitting near the dyed parts. Surely they'd get some blonde imaginary waves that will lighten those strands.
45 minutes later, I felt giddy as I took the cap off and rinsed out the strands. I could see they were blonde...really blonde. And I couldn't wait to dry it out to see what it really looked like.
I brushed it out in the mirror, thinking...okay, it doesn't look all that awesome, but it's still wet. It'll look FABULOUS when it's dry.
Because I didn't get every single piece of hair... my hair did not look like this:
It looked like this:
And since I'd done this awesome dye job at around midnight, I had to live with it till I could get into the hair dresser the next day. I had work in the morning. I wore a hat.
She had to dye my hair back to brown, but it looked really good after that, lol.
Still... I really would like to try the blonde. I've attempted lighter colors since, but haven't committed to that level yet. If I ever do, I'll certainly pay more than 7 dollars.
Spell for the day:
